2009 – Present Eadon Consulting
Bridge Point Rocker Bearing – design of a point rocker bearing for use on a railway bridge. The bearing was subjected to high horizontal and vertical loads due to the nature of the structure.
Mersey Ferry Gangway – Detail design and specification of the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment to be used for a powered gangway to be installed on a new pontoon and linkspan in the river Mersey.
Generic Spherical and Fixed Bearing Calculations – Development of generic calculations for spherical and fixed bearings in accordance with EN1337.
Nuclear Crane Analysis – Response spectrum and fault load case analysis of a high integrity nuclear crane structure and mechanism, producing detail calculations for major structural components.
Nuclear Crane Concept Seismic Assessment – initial seismic analysis of a various high integrity nuclear crane concepts, assessing the structure and mechanism.
Aerospace Handling Equipment – Design, analysis and detail drawings of equipment to be used to manoeuvre and position satellites weighing up to 4000kg being built in a clean room.
Londonderry Peace Bridge Bearing Assessment – Category 3 check of the structural bearing designs and arrangement for this curved, cable stayed footbridge.
Heigham Holmes Pontoon Swing Bridge – Concept development and detailed design of the M&E operating equipment for a pontoon swing bridge in the Norfolk Broads.
Nuclear Power Station Installation Lift Beams – Design, analysis and detail drawings of a series of lifting beams being used to install a new fuel well liner in a nuclear power station.
Humber Bridge Main Cable Inspection Platforms – Design and analysis of access platforms mounted at bridge deck level to enable access to the man riding cradle whilst keeping the footway open.
Offshore Lifting Equipment Analysis – Finite element analysis of details on an offshore lifting frame for launching ROVs.
Bridge Bearing Design – Design and analysis of bespoke bridge bearing designs for an innovative pedestrian bridge in Scotland.
Junction Lock Bridge Bristol - working as sub-consultant to Atkins Bennett on the continuation of design of mechanical equipment for a 650 tonne existing swing bridge built in 1925. Client – Bristol City Council

Nuclear Handling Equipment - Development of concepts and designs for mechanical handling equipment to be used within a research facility, as well as being responsible for the program and design team management.
Cambridgeshire Guided Busway - Design of an innovative mobile gantry crane used for installing 30t pre-cast concrete road segments on the world’s longest guided busway project in Cambridgeshire.
Pressure Safety Release Valve - Design and computational fluid dynamic analysis of a range of pressure release valves for use on oil and gas as well as process equipment.
British Antarctic Survey, Halley VI -Design of the hydraulic leg jacking system for the new Antarctic research station, as well as developing and commissioning of the PLC control software.
Dutch River Bridge Replacement Scheme - Design of the bridge bearings and drive mechanism for this 45m span road and pedestrian swing bridge, as well as writing and commissioning the PLC control software. This project won the Yorkshire and Humber Region Institution of Civil Engineers prize 2007.
Port Dundas Reconnection - Design of steel mitre lock gates 7m high for a drop lock scheme, as well as the associated pumping, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
Automated Gas Turbine Lifting Attachment - Design of an automated four point lifting frame for use on an overhead travelling crane at Rolls Royce. The frame used twistlocks to engage with the gas turbine frame before being moved around a maintenance area.
Wave Power Device - Concept development and preliminary design of an oscillating wave power device.
Bridge Bearing Design - Design and calculations for various types of bridge bearings across a range of structures, working with both BS5400 as well as EN1337.
2002 - 2004 Ricardo Driveline and Transmission Systems
Hybrid Tank Transmission - worked on the development of a hybrid drive tank transmission from initial concept through to the manufacture of prototype transmissions for use in a test vehicle. As well as working on the design, also developed a novel simulation of the transmission to produce loading information to be used during the design process.
1997 - 2002 Defence Engineering and Science Group Sponsorship
An engineering sponsorship covering skills such as basic machining, project management and team leadership. The scheme included a number of summer placements working with different companies including the Defence Procurement Agency and Renishaw.
