Fatigue Design Services
Eadon Consulting are experienced in the design of structures or elements that are subject to fatigue loading. Fatigue accounts for the majority of structural and mechanical failures, yet is an area of design which many engineers either ignore or are unaware of. We have experience of carrying out fatigue assessments for new structures, evaluating existing structures that are failing due to fatigue, and designing modifications to extend their safe life.
The need for fatigue design often comes hand in hand with dynamic and time-history analyses. Ensuring accuracy of the fatigue model and the dynamic time-history analysis model can be incredibly complex, with slight variations in the input parameters having a huge effect on the output. Similarly, for an element subjected to fatigue loading, the selected connection details and boundary conditions can have a significant bearing on the eventual life of that element.
Our broad range of skills in mechanical and structural engineering allows us to apply our abilities to suit the needs of our clients. We have experience of carrying out fatigue assessment and design in applications for the transport sector (e.g. ro-ro’s and road plates) and in the power sector. Our design engineers are fully compliant in designing for fatigue using BS EN 1993-1-8, BS 5400-10, BS 2573-2 and BS 7608.
